Overview

This six-hour walking tour focuses on Zurich's historical and cultural landmarks alongside natural settings. It begins with a short funicular ride on the Polybahn from Central to the panorama terrace of the Federal Institute of Technology, where participants learn about Swiss education and innovation while viewing the city. The tour continues with a two-hour walk through Zurich's Old Town, covering Bahnhofstrasse, Limmatquai, Lindenhof, St. Peter Church, Fraumünster, Grossmünster, ETH, and the former residence of Lenin. After visiting Lindenhof Hill for about 30 minutes, the group takes an aerial cable car or train to either Felsenegg or Uetliberg for an hour. At Felsenegg, a short hike along the Planetweg trail provides views of the city, lake, and Alps amid forest surroundings. Uetliberg serves as an alternative if weather or cable car operation prevents visiting Felsenegg. The tour concludes with a 45-minute ferry cruise on Lake Zurich, passing the Lindt Chocolate Factory and upscale lakeside neighborhoods. The tour is led by a local guide and uses public transportation. It includes all transportation between stops, the funicular ride, the aerial cable car or train ride, and the lake cruise. Food, drinks, souvenirs, and personal expenses are not included. Walking is moderate but involves uneven surfaces and public transit use, making this tour unsuitable for those with walking disabilities, small children under six, or those requiring wheelchairs.
