Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins

Bushiribana is a ruin of a former gold mill on Aruba. The Aruba Island Gold Mining Company built the gold mill in 1825 to extract gold from the ore that was being mined in the nearby hills of Sero Plat; it operated for ten years.

The Gold Mine Ranch History. It was 1824 when gold was first found in Aruba. Perhaps people found gold before this date, but those findings were never registered. The founder of this ore was a twelve-year-old boy named Willem Rasmijn.

The mill's ruins can still be seen today near the narrow canyon of rocks known as Frenchman's Pass, offering visitors a glimpse into Aruba's once-thriving gold mining industry. The Balashi Gold Mill was one of the most important gold mines in Aruba, producing over 3 million pounds of gold in its heyday.
