Metropolitan Cathedral

This cathedral is a celebration of many styles and influences over time. This cathedral also represents the conquests of the Spanish over the Aztecs, as it exists on top of the former site of the Templo Mayor, the main temple where the Aztecs would have celebrated their gods.

Why visit Fortaleza. Considering its isolation, Fortaleza is a surprisingly large and sprawling place. It's one of Brazil's biggest cities, and an economic magnet for people from Ceará and beyond.

The Cathedral of Brasília. A marvel of modernist architecture, the Cathedral of Brasilia, which stands at the center of the Monumental Axis, is a defining symbol of the nation's capital city. It was designed by the celebrated architect, Oscar Niemeyer, and was his first project for a city which became his life's work.
