Fraser River

One of the largest salmon rivers, the Fraser provides spawning habitat for Pacific salmon, including chinook, chum, coho, pink, and sockeye. While the largest, Chinook salmon is the least abundant of the Pacific varieties. Pink salmon is the smallest species in the river.

Primary-contact recreation such as swimming does not commonly occur along the Fraser River itself; instead, it is more likely to take place in the aesthetically "cleaner", warmer, and more accessible tributaries, or towards the mouth of the river.

With a length of 1,375 km, the Fraser is the longest river within British Columbia and the longest of the Canadian Heritage Rivers. The headwaters of the Fraser River are high in the Rocky Mountains.
