Okanagan Lake

Many parks and beaches are found along the shores of the lake, which make boating and swimming very popular activities. The lake is home to several species of fish, including rainbow trout and kokanee. It is said by some to be home to its own lake monster – a giant serpent-like creature named Ogopogo.

Situated in the heart of the Okanagan Valley on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the syilx/Okanagan people, Kelowna is surrounded by mountains, lakes and vineyards where residents embrace outdoor adventure and an active lifestyle all year long.

Okanagan Lake is popular for a wide variety of water sports including waterskiing, windsurfing, boating, fishing and swimming.

Anecdotally, Mallory has heard of people moving out of Kelowna because they just can't make ends meet with the high cost of living and housing. Usually, these people are headed to Alberta for higher-paying jobs and cheaper housing.
