Bell Tower (Zhonglou)

There are many attractions inside the Bell Tower. You can find historic relics, including a replica of the Jingyun Bell (the original is housed in the Xi'an Forest of Stone Tablets Museum) and three steles on the west wall of the first-floor hall that detail its history.

Main Attractions at the Bell Tower The bell tower was built in 1384 during the Ming Dynasty. It once served as the city's timekeeper and alarm center, marking important moments in daily life. Today, it remains one of the top attractions in Xi'an and is the largest and best-preserved bell tower in China.

The Xi'an Bell Tower was built in 1384 under the reign of Zhu Yuangang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty. A landmark in the centre of Xi'an, the Bell Tower is the intersection point of Xi'an's four major roads: North, South, East and West streets.
