Pfister House (Maison Pfister)

Maison Pfister in Colmar is a 16th-century gem: painted frescoes, carved wood galleries, and an octagonal turret on a postcard-perfect corner. Stop for photos and see medieval and Renaissance Alsace meet.

If you're into picturesque little towns, Colmar is definitely the one for you. But if you prefer somewhere a bit bigger with more going on, you'll probably enjoy Strasbourg more. Both have a similar architectural charm though, so you really can't go wrong with either.

The Koïfhus (the Old Customs House), completed in 1480, is the oldest public building in the city. At the time, it played a central role in Colmar's economic life. First mentioned in 1370, the building was used for the storage and transit of all goods imported into Colmar.
