Place Gutenberg

From 1439 to 1444, Johannes Gutenberg, inventor of letterpress printing, lived in Strasbourg. His statue can be found on Place Gutenberg, near to the cathedral. In 1840, the artist David d'Anger has created this statue.

The Strasbourg Cathedral Strasbourg Cathedral is the symbol of the city. Constructed of pink sandstone from the Vosges Mountains, it took nearly 3 centuries of work to complete this “gigantic and delicate marvel”, as Victor Hugo called it.
