Augsburg Town Hall

Famous sights: The Fuggerei (oldest social settlement in the world), the Augsburg puppet theatre with adjacent museum, Brecht and Mozart museum, Renaissance-city hall and Maximilianstraße, three magnificent fountains from the Renaissance era, cathedral and Ulrich´s churches, St. -Anna-church.

2000-year old Augsburg is one of Germany's oldest cities after Trier. It's twice as old as München or Nürnberg. The Roman Museum exhibits finds from Roman Augsburg and the surrounding area, from the beginning of the Roman occupation around 15 BC to its end in the fifth century.

Functions. The New Town Hall is the home of the Mayor and the city council, which has its conference room here. At the same time, the council factions and small parts of the city administration are accommodated in the New Town Hall.

A miracle was said to have occurred in 1194 when a woman took a piece of the sacramental communion bread back home. The longer she kept it, the more it appeared to be transformed into a mysterious blood-red object. Five years later, she finally confessed to her misdemeanor and returned the sacrement to the priest.
