Nakhoda Mosque (Nakhoda Masjid)

With a capacity of 10,000 worshipers in the mosque's prayer hall, the Nakhoda Mosque is the largest mosque in West Bengal and eastern India. Before 1854 there used to be two different mosques at the present site. The mosque was named Nakhoda meaning mariner.

Nakhoda Mosque and Tipu Sultan Mosque have allowed women to offer namaaz on its premises. On request from the Bengal Imam Association, they have also created separate entries, special halls and washrooms allowing Muslim women to offer namaaz comfortably throughout the year.

Nakhoda Masjid: Nakhoda Masjid is one of the largest and most famous mosques located near Rabindra Sarani. The mosque has three domes and two minarets, and the main hall of the mosque can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers. The Masjid is located at a distance of 1.5 km from Rabindra Sarani.

Saudi Arabia has officially banned all forms of photography and video recording, including the use of mobile phones and cameras, within the premises of the two holy mosques—Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina.
