Khadakwasla Dam

Khadakwasla is a dam on the Mutha River situated 20 km from the City of Pune. This dam is one of the main sources of water for Pune. In the vicinity of the dam, there is the well-known National Defence Academy and Central Water & Power Research Station(CWPRS).

The Panshet Dam burst on 12 July 1961, during its first year of storing water. The failure occurred when the dam wall gave way due to the complete lack of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) reinforcement in the conduit passing through the earthen structure.

Khadakwasla Dam is a dam on the Mutha River 21 km (13 mi) from the centre of the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India.

Monsoon season is considered to be the best time to visit the dam. Among the main tourist attractions around the dam are Kudje Village, Peacock Bay and Neelkanteshwar Hill. Timings: 6 AM to 6 PM.
