Tanah Lot Temple (Pura Tanah Lot)

The constant pounding of the currents against the base of Tanah Lot have created a number of sea caves at the foot of the rock formation, many of which are home to sea snakes. These snakes are rumored to protect the temple from evil spirits along with a giant nightmare snake that lurks in the waters around the temple.

If the tide is low, you may walk out onto the rocks to get a better look at the Tanah Lot Temple from the shore. However, you may not enter the temple itself as a foreigner. The grounds are reserved for local Hindu pilgrims.

Tanah Lot Temple is located on the Tabanan coastline, about 20 km from Denpasar and roughly a 30–40 minute drive from Seminyak or Canggu. Transport Options: By Taxi/Car: The most convenient way is to hire a taxi or private car with a driver. Apps like Grab or Gojek may not always be available in the temple area.
