What's in a Name? The Market was created in 1788 by the Protestant or “English” corporation that controlled the city at that time. It was a new flagship municipal market located at the heart of the new commercial city centre.

We had a great visit here and enjoyed looking at all the food for sale, all under one roof. It's an old fashioned city market and they have great displays. We stayed for lunch at a very good restaurant. One of the city's best features.
