Piazza Duomo

Piazza del Duomo is the spiritual heart of Florence and the soul of its historic center, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. The place where you can admire, in a single glance, some of the city's main monuments, in a concentration of history, art and beauty to make your head spin.

Catania's Duomo Square is the city's Baroque stage—home to the Cathedral of Sant'Agata and the Elephant Fountain.

The square Originally constructed in 1078–1093, on the ruins of an ancient Roman Thermae (Achillean Baths), like nearly all of Catania, the devastating 1693 earthquake, leveled most of the structure, and Giovanni Battista Vaccarini designed a Baroque structure and façade in 1711.

Piazza del Duomo is the symbolic center of Catania, a place that embodies the Baroque soul of the city and its deep connection with Sant'Agata, its beloved patron saint.
