Prato della Valle

Prato della Valle. Covering more than 80,000 square meters, Prato della Valle is among the largest squares in Europe. At its center is located Memmia Island, accessible by four bridges and surrounded by a canal which 78 statues following one another.

These include, among others, the mythical founder Antenore, Tito Livio, Torquato Tasso, Ludovico Ariosto, Andrea Mantegna, Francesco Petrarca, Galileo Galilei, and Andrea Memmo. However, this is a pantheon incomplete. On the northern bridge, there are two empty pedestals.
