Why is the Ueno Zoo famous?
A magical place to meet various animals within central Tokyo Japan's oldest and most visited zoo. In addition to animals unique to Japan, the zoo is also home to rare animals such as giant pandas and okapi, known as the “forest giraffe”, brought from the jungles of Central Africa and Zaire.
Is Tama Zoo worth it?
The zoo is not in central Tokyo like Ueno but offers a very good day out. It is owned by the Tokyo government body and is very good value for money with excellent facilities for eating there or enjoying a picnic. It would be good to see more space for some of the animals but that is the case with most zoos.
