Vilnius Old Town (Vilniaus Senamiestis)

In the city of Vilnius alone there are more than 85,000 Poles, who make up about 15% of the Lithuanian capital's population. Most Poles in Lithuania are Roman Catholic and speak Polish, although a minority of them speak Russian or Lithuanian as their first language.

Vilnius' well-preserved collection of architectural masterpieces is an important legacy of human imagination. Vilnius has experienced a tumultuous history, so the buildings have been reconstructed throughout the ages, adding stylistic changes and incorporating old buildings into new ones.

Pilies Street is the oldest and most ornate street in the Old Town of Vilnius. The street formed in the place of the former road from Vilnius Castle to the south, towards Poland and Russia This was the main road to the castle, with its branches eventually turning into side streets.

Like in many countries, the capital is the most attractive city out of all the others, and Vilnius is no exception. This beautiful city is home to many monuments that are symbols of this gorgeous city as well as symbols for Lithuania. Probably the most well-known place in Vilnius is Cathedral Square.
