Tua Pek Kong Temple

The Taoist statue of Tua Pek Kong, the god of prosperity, was the only one that was not damaged by the fire. New premises to house the deities and the kramat had to be built.

Tua Pek Kong is often worshipped for prosperity, wealth, safety and happiness. An interesting fact of Tua Pek Kong is that despite being the lowest ranking deity, it is actually the most worshipped deity. Many believe that by worshipping to Tua Pek Kong, the entire area will be blessed and protected by Tua Pek Kong.

Most people of Chinese descent live in South Kuching area, like Padungan and Pending. The Malay mostly live at North Kuching area, and are spread evenly throughout South Kuching area. Other races like Iban, Bidayuh, Melanau and Orang Ulu are spread evenly throughout Padawan and some at South and North Kuching.

The Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple is an architectural complex in Loyang, Singapore, known for housing the idols of both Taoist and Hindu deities as well as a Malay shrine. The temple had its roots in a small hut by the beach that was destroyed by a fire in 1996.
