Grand Mosque of Chefchaouen

Mosques have been off-limits to non-Muslims since the time of French colonisation. The French established their protectorate in Morocco following an "incident" where Moroccans killed European workers who were walking through a Muslim cemetery.

Chefchaouen (Arabic: شفشاون, romanized: Shafshāwan , IPA: [ʃafˈʃaːwan] ) is a city in northwest Morocco. It is the chief town of the province of the same name and is noted for its buildings in shades of blue, for which it is nicknamed the "Blue City".

A visit to Morocco's largest city would not be complete without a tour of the Hassan II Casablanca Mosque. In fact many people would say it's the only reason to visit Casablanca at all, and while we would humbly disagree, it is unquestionably the main attraction here.
