Mt. Victoria Lookout

Allow 1.5 hours to walk the full 4.6 kilometre loop from Courtenay Place up Majoribanks Street to the summit and back via Oriental Bay.

Offering spectacular panoramic views of the city and harbour, Mount Victoria can be visited by car, by foot or by bike.

Brief description: Mount Kaukau is the most visible high point in the Wellington landscape, and easily recognisable as it is the site of Wellington's main television transmitter tower.

We drove to the lookout but you can also take a long hike up to it. It was beautiful but super windy! If you drive up just be careful because there are a lot of blind corners and sometimes only enough room for one car to go up. It was worth it.
