Ria Formosa Natural Park

The Ria Formosa is renowned for being one of the largest protected natural sites in the country. As a unique natural park in Portugal, it is home to impressive biodiversity, with over 200 bird species observed throughout the year. It is notably a refuge for migratory species such as flamingos, egrets, and spoonbills.

Faro, the historic regional capital The regional capital Faro sees a fair share of visitors, but many tourists just pass through it on their way from the airport to beach towns. We stopped for a few hours to explore the city, and it was a positive surprise!

Watersports: Praia de Faro is safe for swimming and surfing, and there are lifeguards on duty keeping everyone safe. It's also popular for watersports like wakeboarding, waterskiing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
