El Golfo

If you are visiting the old town fishing village of El Golfo and you fancy a good swim in the Atlantic, forget the open waters of the coast - always somewhat dangerous - and head to The Caleton, a natural pool formed by volcanic lava flows from the Timanfaya eruptions.

There are few risks apart from the currents on some beaches and a few thefts, as in all tourist resorts. The sun can also be very strong, so remember to protect yourself and drink plenty of water. Lanzarote is a Spanish island where Spanish laws apply.
