What is the history of the Galle Lighthouse?
History of Galle Lighthouse The original lighthouse, built in 1848, was the first light station on the island. It was located about 100 meters from the current site but was destroyed by a fire in 1934. A new lighthouse was constructed in 1939 on the site where the present one stands.
