Abisko National Park

In addition to its location on the Auroral Oval, Abisko becomes the best place in Europe for observing the magical natural phenomenon Northern Lights. A transfer will take you to the Kiruna train station, followed by a 1,5-hour scenic train ride towards Abisko.

The Abisko Northern Lights can be seen anywhere between September and early April and the dark skies of Abisko and the surrounding area are a great place to spend the night searching for them.

But is Abisko really worth visiting? The short answer is yes — especially if you love untouched landscapes, outdoor adventures, and unique Arctic experiences. This is not a city full of museums and shopping streets. Instead, it is a destination built around nature, silence, and wide open space.

Kiruna is a special place in many ways. Sweden's northernmost town is home to Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, to Sweden's highest mountain, Kebnekaise, and to the world's largest underground iron ore mine – a mine that is now forcing the town to move.
