Hall of Opium Museum

Compared to the Hall of Opium, the House of Opium Museum is fairly small and includes a collection of opium memorabilia, as well as the farming tools used to plant and harvest the crop. Whether you visit one or both museums, each provides an excellent look into the history and culture of this notorious narcotic.

But in 1957 the Thai government established an absolute ban on pro- duction, transport, sale, and consumption of opium. Up to that point heroin had not been known in Thailand; since then it has apparently been locally manufactured and also imported from Laos.
