Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti)

Lypky and Zvirynets of the Pecherskyi Raion are the most expensive areas to live. Koncha-Zaspa is arguably the most interesting neighborhood name dating back to the times of Kyivan Rus.

The square was built to commemorate the new nation's independence and promote the values of national unity and self-reliance. It was completed in 1961 and served as an inspiration for other countries on the African continent seeking independence from European colonial rule.

Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Ukrainian: Майдан Незалежності, IPA: [mɐjˈdɑn nezɐˈlɛʒnos⁽ʲ⁾t⁽ʲ⁾i]) or Independence Square is the central town square of Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine.
