Which nights should you book for Alameda Island Running Festival?
Book the night before the race — 2026-09-19 — as race morning begins well before dawn and you’ll need to be at the start line early. Also book the night after — 2026-09-20 — to rest and recover; travelling home immediately after finishing a marathon is physically demanding and not advisable. If you’re supporting a runner but not racing yourself, you may only need the night before, depending on your schedule.
How do you get to Alameda?
All listed hotels are within 1.35km of Crab Cove Beach, which is the start line for the Alameda Island Running Festival. None of the hotels are described as having direct access to public transit hubs, and no journey times by foot, bike, or vehicle are provided — only distances. Road closures on race morning will affect car travel, so plan accordingly. Ride-share drop-off is likely the most reliable option if arriving by vehicle, but check local guidance in advance. Services thin out late — check the last departure before you go.

The area around Crab Cove Beach is a quiet, coastal part of Alameda with residential streets, open green space, and views across San Francisco Bay. It’s walkable and flat, with beach access and parkland nearby. There are no major commercial districts or nightlife hubs immediately adjacent, but the broader island offers small shops, cafés, and local restaurants within a short drive or ride-share trip.
