What is Habanero Hundred?
Texas Hottest trail race, the Habanero Hundred was born from a summer long-run gone wrong (ask Race Director Cal) and is now one of the largest trail races in the state, held in August every year with options for many distances and the marquee event being the 100-mile distance.
The relay option will also allow you to run with a team, friends, or family to complete this monumental task.
In the first year of the event, we only had ONE finisher in the 100 Mile event, Julie Schmal! Ever since we have put our 100mi finishers names printed on the back of the next year s shirt. Between 2015 and 2025 there have only been 198 finishes of the Habanero Hundred 100mi.
Are you up for the challenge? Maybe start with one of our shorter solo distances or join a team in the highly competitive relay events for either the 100km or 100mi distance relays.

Which nights should you book for Habanero Hundred?
Book for the night of 2026-08-20 if you are running or supporting on race day (2026-08-21), as race morning starts before dawn and road closures will be in effect. Also consider booking the night of 2026-08-21 — many runners prefer to rest and recover after finishing, and travelling home immediately post-race is physically taxing. If you are staying for the full event period (2026-08-21 to 2026-08-23), note that only the first day (2026-08-21) is the race date; the other dates are not tied to event activity unless specified by organisers.

The start line is at Cat Spring, and the nearest bookable accommodation is BlissWood B&B Ranch, 3.6km away. That distance is not walkable under race-morning conditions, and no walk time is provided — plan for a short drive or ride-share. Road closures on race morning (2026-08-21) will affect vehicle access near the start; arrive the evening before and park overnight if possible. Services like taxis or ride-shares may be limited during closures — confirm availability in advance. None of the listed hotels are within walking distance of the start line.
Where do you eat and drink after the race?
After finishing the race, options for food and drink are limited immediately around Cat Spring. Most nearby dining is in Sealy, 18–19km away, where several of the listed hotels are located — including Super 8 by Wyndham Sealy, Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Sealy, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sealy. These areas have standard roadside amenities, but hours and availability late on race day should be confirmed directly with venues.
What is the area around Cat Spring like?
Cat Spring is a rural unincorporated community with very limited services — no hotels, restaurants, or shops on-site. The surrounding area is agricultural and sparsely populated. All listed accommodations are either on working ranches (BlissWood, Lily Pond’s Cottage, Bluebonnet Cabin) or in the small town of Sealy, which offers basic chain hotels and convenience-oriented services. Sealy has more dining and fuel options, but remains a low-density Texas town without urban infrastructure.
