by Machu Picchu Viajes Peru
This two-day trek follows a short section of the Inca Trail, allowing walkers to see key archaeological sites such as Winawayna and Chachabamba en route to Machu Picchu. The journey begins early with a pick-up from a hotel in Cusco and transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo. From there, a train ride takes travelers to kilometer 104, the trailhead. The hike covers about five hours on the first day, including a stop for a boxed lunch near Winawayna, an Inca agricultural site. The route continues to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where the first views of Machu Picchu appear. After descending to the citadel, guests take a bus to a 3-star hotel in Aguas Calientes town for an overnight stay. Dinner is included at a local restaurant. On the second day, breakfast is served at the hotel before a 30-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu to arrive around 6:00 am for sunrise. A professional bilingual guide leads a 2.5-hour walk through the main areas of the citadel, including the Royal Mausoleum, Temple of the Three Windows, Main Temple, Sacred Plaza, and Intihuatana stone. After the guided tour, there is free time to explore Machu Picchu independently. Later, travelers return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) before catching the train back to Cusco, arriving in the early evening. Transfers from the train station to the hotel in Cusco conclude the tour. The package includes all transportation between Ollantaytambo, Aguas Calientes, and Machu Picchu, accommodation, meals as specified, entrance fees, a first aid kit and oxygen bottle, and bilingual guiding.
