Overview

This small-group tour in Siem Reap covers the main Angkor temple complexes over about 10 hours, starting with a hotel pickup in an air-conditioned minivan. The route begins at Angkor Thom, the ancient Khmer capital, entering through the South Gate and visiting temples inside the city walls. The tour includes stops at Bayon Temple, known for its many stone faces, Baphuon Temple, a three-tiered temple mountain dedicated to Shiva, and the Terrace of the Elephants, used by King Jayavarman VII as a viewing platform for his army. Next, the group travels to Ta Prohm, a temple left in its natural state with large tree roots growing over the ruins and famous as a filming location for Tomb Raider. Afterward, lunch is served at a local restaurant where traditional dishes are prepared, including vegetarian options. Following lunch, the tour visits the village of Phum Preah Dak to see local techniques for making palm cake and palm sugar. In the afternoon, the tour proceeds to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, built by King Suryavarman and dedicated to Vishnu. Visitors can view its extensive wall carvings and the longest bas-relief globally. The site includes a wide moat and five towers featured on the Cambodian flag. The final visit is to Phnom Bakheng hill to watch the sunset. The day ends with a return transfer to the hotel in Siem Reap. The tour includes entrance tickets, lunch, bottled water, cold towels, a professional English-speaking guide, and hotel transfers. Soft drinks are not included. Visitors must bring a camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent, and appropriate dress covering knees and shoulders is required.
