Overview

The tour begins with paddling sea kayaks across the water towards Rangitoto Island as the sun sets over Auckland and the Waitakere Ranges. Upon arrival, participants pull their kayaks up at Rangitoto wharf and start a relaxed one-hour hike to the island’s summit. There, they pause to watch the sunset from a prime viewpoint. After the walk, the group returns by kayak in the dark, guided by a professional who points out the city lights shining like stars. The entire trip lasts about six and a half hours and includes all kayaking equipment, a fully catered BBQ dinner, tea, and coffee. The tour welcomes people with little kayaking experience and runs in small groups with experienced guides.
