Overview

This 4.5-hour eco-safari cruise departs from Auckland city's Viaduct Harbour and travels into the Hauraki Gulf to watch dolphins, whales, and seabirds in their natural environment. The boat operates as an active marine-mammal research vessel, with onboard marine scientists providing expert commentary about the local wildlife, conservation efforts, and the fragile marine ecosystem. Passengers contribute directly to marine mammal conservation through their ticket purchase, with a portion of proceeds supporting the Hauraki Gulf Guardians fund, which helps protect and regenerate the gulf’s environment. Food and drinks are available to buy on board, but hotel pickup and drop-off are not included. Passengers should dress in warm layers and weatherproof clothing, and bring sun protection, suitable footwear, binoculars, and a camera. Check-in closes 15 minutes before departure. Special arrangements can be made for passengers with mobility impairments by contacting the operator in advance.
