Overview

This full-day bus tour from Tbilisi covers major stops in the Caucasus Mountains, starting with a meeting point at Rose Revolution Square. The journey includes a short stop at Jinvali Water Reservoir to see the blue water framed by mountain ranges. Next is Ananuri fortress, a historical castle on the Aragvi River dating from the 16th to 18th centuries, with views of the reservoir and surrounding landscape. Before lunch, there is an option to go rafting in the nearby area, followed by a meal featuring traditional Georgian dishes, including khinkali dumplings. At Gudauri ski resort, the tour offers free time to try activities like paragliding (extra cost) or winter sports depending on the season. The Russian-Georgian Friendship Monument is also visited, a large concrete structure built in 1983 overlooking Devil's Valley. The trip continues to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), a mountain village known for trekking and climbing. From there, participants can rent a 4WD vehicle (extra cost) to reach Gergeti Trinity Church, a 14th-century church located at 2,170 meters elevation beneath Mount Kazbegi. The church offers views of the valley and the 5,047-meter peak. The tour ends by returning to Tbilisi or optionally staying at Rooms Hotel in Kazbegi. Guides provide English commentary throughout the approximately 12-hour day trip. The route may be adjusted in winter if roads beyond Gudauri are closed.
