Overview

This walking tour lasts between two and three hours and includes entrance to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill archaeological area. The visit begins at the Colosseum, where entry is through the restricted Gladiators' Arena Floor entrance. The guide explains the Colosseum's engineering and its role as a venue for festivals and games that could last up to one hundred days. The amphitheater features over eighty entrances and could hold around fifty thousand spectators. The tour then continues on foot to Palatine Hill, where visitors see the ancient ruins associated with Rome's origins and imperial history. After spending about forty-five minutes there, the group walks to the Roman Forum, once the center of public, social, and political life in ancient Rome, for another forty-five minutes of exploration. Panoramic views of the Colosseum are available during the visit. The tour includes entrance tickets with arena access, reservation fees, and audio equipment to hear the guide clearly. Guests under eighteen may be required to show valid ID for entry. The order of visits may change depending on site arrangements. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The tour is not wheelchair accessible.
