Book on Viator Confirmed right away, but you pay full price.€490This scuba diving tour at Thingvellir National Park lasts about four hours and includes a guided dive in the Silfra fissure, located at the geological boundary known as the Divide between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The dive takes place in clear glacier water with visibility limited mainly by water density. A slow current helps divers maintain a steady pace while exploring underwater. Dive depths vary but do not exceed 18 meters in accordance with park regulations. The tour is led by a certified PADI Divemaster and includes all necessary specialized diving equipment: dry suit, mask, fins, thermal undersuit, tanks, weights, and regulator. Groups are small, with a maximum of three divers per session. There are three departure times available when booking. Participants must have prior dry suit diving experience, with at least 10 logged dives shown by certification or logbook, and must have dived in a dry suit within the last two years to ensure skills are current. The dive is rated challenging and requires carrying heavy equipment for up to 400 meters. Guests should bring warm undergarments such as fleece or wool and warm socks, as well as a change of clothes since dry suits may not be completely dry after the dive. Wearing glasses under the mask is not possible; contact lenses or prescription goggles must be used instead. During winter, if temperatures fall below zero degrees Celsius, the instructor may reduce the tour to a single dive for safety reasons. Hot chocolate and cookies are provided after the dive. Parking at Thingvellir National Park requires a small fee. Pickup from Reykjavik is not included in the tour.
The meeting point is ''Arctic Adventures Silfra Fissure'' in Thingvellir National Park. Guests park at ''Thingvellir P5'' then walk 400m along the road until you reach a smaller car park with all the snorkel and dive vans. Please arrive 15 MINUTES before your tour is due to begin.
