The Silfra Snorkeling Between Tectonic Plates tour meets on location at Silfra in Thingvellir National Park, about 45 minutes from Reykjavik. The total duration is approximately two and a half hours. Participants start by changing in a heated van where they receive a dry suit and a warm undersuit to wear over their clothes, helping them stay dry and warm in the cold water. All necessary snorkeling equipment is provided. Hot chocolate and cookies are offered before entering the water. A PADI-certified instructor guides the group through the Silfra fissure, which lies between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The water is exceptionally clear, with visibility over 100 meters. The entrance fee to Silfra is included. Participants must be at least 12 years old, able to swim, physically fit, and in good health. Height, weight, and age information must be provided before the tour to ensure proper dry suit fitting. Medical approval is required for participants aged 60 and above. The tour does not include transportation to Silfra. Souvenir photos and gratuities are available for purchase separately.

Itinerary
Upon arrival 15 minutes before the start time, you will check in with the guides at the meeting point at Silfra. Once your group of max 6 people has been formed, your guide will give you your drysuit, warm undersuit and snorkeling equipment. Your guide will explain how to use this equipment and how to ensure that you will be warm and comfortable during your tour. You can change in our heated Changing Van and the guide will help you with putting all the gear on. We recommend wearing long underwear and thick socks. Your guide will brief you on Silfra and safety as well as information about Thingvellir national park, the tectonic plates and the continents. The briefing and gearing up takes approx 1 hour. You will walk 5 minutes to Silfra and start your 30 - 45 minute snorkeling tour of Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon. After snorkeling in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies. This is your chance to chat with your guide, ask any questions you might have and take a look at the pics taken during the tour. After you have entered Thingvellir National Park, turn onto road #361. Stay on this road for a few minutes and take the 3rd right where you will see the Silfra car park with our company vans. Drive a little further to parking lot P5 to park and walk back to meet our guides.
