The Silfra Snorkeling Between Tectonic Plates tour meets on location at Silfra in Thingvellir National Park, about 45 minutes from Reykjavik. The total duration is approximately two and a half hours. Participants start by changing in a heated van where they receive a dry suit and a warm undersuit to wear over their clothes, helping them stay dry and warm in the cold water. All necessary snorkeling equipment is provided. Hot chocolate and cookies are offered before entering the water. A PADI-certified instructor guides the group through the Silfra fissure, which lies between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The water is exceptionally clear, with visibility over 100 meters. The entrance fee to Silfra is included. Participants must be at least 12 years old, able to swim, physically fit, and in good health. Height, weight, and age information must be provided before the tour to ensure proper dry suit fitting. Medical approval is required for participants aged 60 and above. The tour does not include transportation to Silfra. Souvenir photos and gratuities are available for purchase separately.
