Overview
The tour starts in Queenstown with a luxury coach ride along the shore of Lake Wakatipu through countryside to the township of Manapouri. The coach stops briefly in Te Anau to pick up additional passengers. Upon arrival in Manapouri, passengers board a modern catamaran for a 50-minute cruise across Lake Manapouri, enjoying views of the surrounding mountains. After the lake cruise, the tour crosses the 670-meter-high Wilmot Pass to enter Fiordland National Park. From there, passengers take a 2 hour and 45-minute wilderness cruise on Doubtful Sound aboard a comfortable catamaran. Onboard nature guides provide live commentary about the wildlife and environment throughout the cruise. The entire round trip lasts about 13 hours. Hotel pick up and drop off is available from select locations, with arrivals required 15 minutes before departure. A picnic lunch can be pre-ordered by contacting the supplier after booking. Food, drinks, and gratuities are not included. The tour operates in all weather conditions, so appropriate clothing is recommended.
