The class begins with participants sitting down in Hoi An old town alongside local lantern makers. Over about one hour, attendees learn how to craft a foldable lantern using bamboo and silk materials provided by the instructor. The foldable design allows the lantern to be collapsed for easy transport in a bag. All necessary materials are supplied during the session, and participants complete a lantern they can take home as a personal souvenir.

Lantern Making Class- The Great Cultural Heritage of Hoi An A Collapsible Hoi An Souvenir You will have a chance to enjoy our herbal tea and listening to the master to talk about the history and the culture of Hoi An Lanterns.... The master will prepare the frame for you and you will decorate the lanterns by yourself -Select your desired silk and color -Apply glue and let it dry - Set silk and stretch the silk to cover the stake -Fully cover the sides with silk -Cover the top and bottom of the hanger with silk strips -Select a tassel for the lantern base - Finished! Your lantern can also be folded and stowed in your luggage to be brought home And the master will make one more lantern for you like the special gifts from them at the end of the class.
