Overview

This 9-hour small-group tour in English starts at Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon, where you meet your guide and driver. The group size is limited to 8 people, providing a more personal experience. The tour vehicle has air conditioning for your comfort. The first stop is Fatima, where you visit the Chapel of the Apparitions for 15 minutes, the site of reported visions of the Virgin Mary. Then, you spend about an hour at the Sanctuary of Fatima, a key Catholic shrine that attracts millions annually and commemorates the apparitions to three children in 1917. Next, the tour visits Nazare, a coastal fishing town famous for its large waves. You stop at the 14th-century Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Nazare church for 10 minutes, then spend around 80 minutes in the town center with ocean views from the clifftop area called O Sitio, located 110 meters above sea level. This area includes a chapel built in 1182 and offers seafood restaurant options where you can have lunch (food and drinks are not included). Additional stops include the Miradouro do Suberco viewpoint for 10 minutes, a 5-minute stop at Praia da Nazare cliff-top view, a 10-minute visit to the Ermida da Memoria chapel, a 10-minute view of Praia do Norte where record-breaking waves occur, and a 10-minute visit to Forte de Sao Miguel, a 16th-century fort turned lighthouse that houses the Nazare Canyon Interpretive Center. Note that entrance to Nazare lighthouse costs extra. The final destination is the medieval town of Obidos, where you have about 75 minutes to walk through its walled streets, see whitewashed houses decorated with flowers, and visit small museums and bookstores. Obidos is known for its cherry liqueur, ginjinha, which is served in a chocolate cup and included in the tour price (one serving per person). The town has a history dating back to its capture from the Moors in 1148 and is situated on a hilltop inland from the bay. The tour ends back at Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon. Alcoholic beverages are provided during the trip, but hotel pickup and drop-off are not included. You should bring a light jacket due to variable weather conditions.
