Overview

This express tour in Florence includes priority access to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as the Florence Duomo. The tour begins outside the Duomo ticket office at Piazza di San Giovanni, where participants bypass the public lines to enter the cathedral. A local English-speaking guide leads a 30-minute tour inside the cathedral, explaining its nearly 200-year construction, Filippo Brunelleschi's architectural innovations, and highlighting interior features such as marble floors, stained-glass windows, frescoes, and Vasari’s Last Judgment on the 375-foot-high dome. After the guided portion, participants may continue exploring the Duomo independently or leave the cathedral. An optional upgrade includes climbing Brunelleschi's Dome, a 15th-century double-shell structure with a red-tiled exterior. The climb lasts about one hour and ends with panoramic views of Florence. This dome climb option also includes entrance to the Baptistry, Giotto Bell Tower, and Duomo Museum. Additionally, all participants receive tickets to the Museo della Misericordia, which can be visited independently to see Renaissance paintings and learn about the ambulance corps founded during the Black Death. The museum visit typically takes around 30 minutes and closes at 4:00 PM. Tours booked at 3:00 PM or 3:30 PM allow museum access before the tour by showing the voucher or on the following day. Gratuities are not included. If the dome climb upgrade is not selected, dome access is not permitted.
