This full-day boat tour begins with a 30-minute cruise along the calm Mulgrave River. After arriving at the Frankland Islands, the operator provides a guided walk on Normanby Island, where visitors can explore the beach and forest areas. The islands are home to endangered species such as green turtles, hawksbill turtles, spectacled flying-foxes, and beach stone-curlews. Guests may use snorkeling gear, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards to explore the surrounding waters, which contain around 200 coral species between Normanby and Mabel islands, part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. A guided snorkel safari is included to help guests view the underwater life. Morning and afternoon tea, as well as lunch and fresh water throughout the day, are provided. Lycra suits are supplied in season and must be worn during stinger season. Transfers from select Cairns CBD hotels are included when available. Optional introductory diving and drinks are not included. The tour lasts about eight hours and focuses on relaxed exploration of the islands and reef.
