Itinerary

1

The Pyramids Of Giza

The tour begins with hotel pickup followed by a visit to the Giza Plateau, home to Egypt's three main pyramids built around 2550 B.C. during the 4th Dynasty. These pyramids were royal tombs during the Old and Middle Kingdoms. Today, over 93 pyramids exist in Egypt, with the Giza group being the most famous. The guide will lead a walk around the site lasting about an hour, sharing details about the pyramids’ construction and significance.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu

The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the largest, tallest, and most intact pyramid in Egypt. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and remained the tallest building on earth for 4300 years until the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889. Constructed entirely of limestone, it consists of about 1,300,000 blocks weighing between 2.5 and 15 tons. Its square base covers 13 acres, with sides measuring approximately 230 meters (755 feet), precisely aligned to the four cardinal points and angled at 52 degrees.

3

Pyramid Complex of Khafre

Khafre's Pyramid, the second pyramid on the Giza Plateau, is identified by the remaining casing stones near its summit. Positioned on higher ground, it creates an optical illusion of being taller than the Great Pyramid. It stands 136 meters (446 feet) tall, with sides of 214.5 meters (704 feet), covering 11 acres and angled at 53 degrees. Originally, it was 143.5 meters (471 feet) tall but has lost height over time.

4

Pyramid of Menkaure

The smallest of the three main pyramids, built by Menkaure, Khafre's son, was originally 65.5 meters (215 feet) tall and now measures 62 meters (203 feet). Its sides are 105 meters (344 feet) long, with an angle of 51.3 degrees. The pyramid was enlarged during construction, adding a descending corridor, three portcullises, a small paneled chamber, an additional burial chamber, and a storeroom. Its entrance faces north.

5

Panoramic View of the Pyramids

After visiting the main pyramids, the tour includes a 20-minute stop at a vantage point offering a panoramic view of the pyramids. The guide provides commentary on the layout and historical context of the site, allowing visitors to observe the structures from multiple angles.

20 min

6

Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx, known to the ancients as 'Shesep Ankh' or 'the living image,' is carved from soft sandstone. It measures 60 meters (200 feet) in length and 20 meters (65 feet) in height. The face is 4 meters (13 feet) wide, with eyes 2 meters (6 feet) high. It faces the rising sun, and a temple was built in front of it. Following this visit, the tour returns to the hotel.
