Overview

This full-day bus tour begins with a ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, which travels through mountain ranges and rainforest to reach Kuranda Village. The train stops at Barron Falls, where travelers can alight to view the falls before continuing to the village. Once in Kuranda, there is time to visit the local markets and shops offering a variety of regional products and souvenirs. The tour continues with a visit to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, home to over 1,500 butterflies flying freely inside the largest flight aviary in Australia. Visitors can also see the Breeding Laboratory to learn about butterfly development. Next is a long stop at the Rainforestation Nature Park, which includes a barbecue buffet lunch. At Rainforestation, guests ride on a World War II amphibious Army Duck vehicle that travels over land and water through the rainforest, with guides explaining local plants and animals. The Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience features performances by the Pamagirri Dancers in a rainforest amphitheater, a Dreamtime Walk, boomerang throwing lessons, and demonstrations of spear throwing and didgeridoo playing. The Koala and Wildlife Park allows close encounters with Australian animals such as wombats, snakes, dingoes, the endangered Cassowary, and Lumholtz's Tree Kangaroo; a guided tour is available or visitors can explore independently. The tour concludes with a ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, which glides over the rainforest canopy. Stops are made at the Barron Falls and Red Peak stations, where visitors can take in views of the rainforest and Barron Falls from The Edge lookout. The entire tour lasts about 10 hours and includes transport, lunch, and the listed wildlife and cultural experiences.
