Overview

The Great Salt Lake is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere and holds a unique place in Utah’s environment. This 5 ½ hour small-group bus tour focuses on the lake and Antelope Island, the largest island within it. The guide explains the environmental challenges facing the lake and the conservation efforts underway to protect it. The tour begins with a stop at Great Salt Lake State Park, where guests can observe the lake’s vast shoreline and the wildlife that depends on it. Next, the group visits Antelope Island State Park, including Bridger Bay Beach and a one-mile round-trip hike to Buffalo Point. The tour also includes a visit to Fielding Garr Ranch, where participants learn about the ranch’s history and have opportunities to see free-ranging bison, mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorns, and many bird species. Transportation is provided with hotel pickup and drop-off at selected hotels in Salt Lake City. Bottled water is included to keep guests refreshed during the tour.
