Overview

The tour starts with a walk around the salt pans at the Riserva Naturale Saline Di Trapani E Paceco. For about 50 minutes, travelers follow the edge of the salt pans within the WWF reserve, observing the white salt, blue sea, gray clay, and pink tanks. Visitors can see the salt formation process firsthand, touch the salt, and watch the transformation from seawater to salt. The area is home to protected plants and birds, adding a natural element to the visit. After the walk, the tour continues with a 25-minute guided visit to the Museo del Sale located in an ancient 1400s mill inside a historic baglio. This part of the tour explains the history of salt production and the family that managed the salt pans for generations. The museum is recognized by the European Union and highlights the connection between salt and the sea. The tour lasts about 75 minutes in total and includes tasting whole salt and fleur de sel with different aromas produced locally. After the tour, an aperitif with a sea view or a meal at the nearby restaurant is available but not included.
