Overview

This full-day bus tour lasts about 12 hours and covers major sights on the Isle of Skye and surrounding Highlands, departing from Inverness. The group travels with an experienced driver who provides live commentary throughout the trip. The tour includes stops at Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle, Portree, Kilt Rock, the Old Man of Storr, the Fairy Pools, Skye Bridge, and Urquhart Castle. The journey begins with a drive along Loch Ness’s shoreline, where the guide shares stories about the famous lake. Next, the tour stops for 15 minutes at a viewpoint near Eilean Donan Castle to take photos; entry to the castle is not included. Then the group spends 45 minutes in Portree, where visitors can explore the harbour area, local shops, and cafés. Those who pre-book lunch have their meals delivered on the coach here. Afterward, there is a 15-minute stop at Kilt Rock to view the sea cliffs and waterfall. The tour then pauses for 10 minutes at a loch-side viewpoint to see the Old Man of Storr. The longest stop is at the Fairy Pools, where participants have about 75 minutes to walk the 1.5-mile round trip on a moderately uphill path to see pools and waterfalls with mountain views. Following this, the group crosses Skye Bridge and travels east through mountain glens while the guide talks about Highland history. Finally, the tour ends with a 10-minute stop overlooking Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness before returning to Inverness.
