Overview

This eight-hour group tour from Tbilisi explores the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia, focusing on cultural, historical, and gastronomic experiences. The tour begins with a visit to Bodbe Monastery, where Saint Nino is buried. Visitors spend about one hour learning about the Christian history of the site and may access the holy spring waters. Next, the tour continues to Sighnaghi, known as the City of Love, with its Italian-style streets and the longest fortress wall in Europe. Guests have about ninety minutes to walk around the town and enjoy views of the Alazani Valley. Lunch follows at a restaurant in Sighnaghi called Sighnaghi’s Mamuli, featuring a balcony overlooking the valley. Traditional Georgian dishes are served alongside free tastings of local wines and chacha made from Kakhetian varieties. After lunch, the group visits the KTW traditional Kakhetian Wine House for a thirty-five-minute wine tasting session featuring several types of wine. On the return trip to Tbilisi, there is a forty-minute stop to watch a Churchkhela master class and honey tasting, where visitors see how these traditional sweets are made. Another stop lasting about twenty-five minutes demonstrates Georgian bread baking, with opportunities to taste fresh bread and local cheeses. The tour concludes at Maidni Square in Old Tbilisi, near the Ushba Travel office. Included are a guide, air-conditioned transport, free tastings of four wines and chacha, and the Churchkhela master class. Dinner is not included.
