Overview

This full-day bus tour in Kyoto lasts about 8 to 9 hours and covers several key landmarks. The tour starts at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, where visitors have about one hour to see the temple built in 778 and enjoy views of Kyoto from the hillside location. Next is Sanjusangendo Temple, with a 40-minute visit to see the main hall’s 1,001 Senju Kannon statues. After Sanjusangendo, the coach heads to Arashiyama for a lunch break. The lunch option is a Japanese style buffet featuring local seasonal dishes, served with a view of Togetsukyo Bridge. The buffet menu is the same for all guests and does not include special dietary meals. On April 14 and 16, lunch is served as a set meal instead of a buffet. Following lunch, the group walks through the Sagano Bamboo Forest trail for about 20 minutes on the way to Tenryu-ji Temple. Tenryu-ji is a World Heritage Site with a garden design unchanged for over 700 years, offering seasonal flowers and plants during the 30-minute visit. The tour then continues to Kinkaku-ji Temple, known as the Golden Pavilion, for a 40-minute visit. This temple is also a World Heritage Site and is covered with gold leaf. On the return trip, the bus passes Nijo Castle with a guide commentary from the vehicle. The final stop is Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, where visitors spend about an hour walking through the famous 1,000 Torii gates. This shrine is known for guardian gods related to business success, family well-being, traffic safety, and performing arts. The tour includes a professional English-speaking guide, multilingual audio guides available in multiple languages on the bus, admission fees for all listed temples, onboard WiFi, air conditioning, and the buffet lunch if selected. There is walking involved at all stops, including stairs and hills. No hotel pickup or drop-off is provided.
