Overview

This morning tour lasts about 4 hours and 40 minutes and is led by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter for guests starting from Kyoto. For those joining from Osaka, an English-speaking assistant accompanies the group from Hotel Granvia Osaka to the Sunrise Tours Desk in Kyoto Avanti. The tour begins with a visit to Nijo Castle, a World Heritage Site built by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Visitors spend approximately 50 minutes exploring the castle grounds and the Ninomaru Palace, known for its elaborate carvings and decorations. The tour does not include entry to the Honmaru Palace or the Painting Gallery. If Nijo Castle is closed on the scheduled day, the tour visits Ryoan-ji Temple instead. Next, the group proceeds to Kinkaku-ji Temple, another World Heritage Site. Guests have about 45 minutes to see the golden Shariden building, which houses Buddha's ashes, and to walk around the surrounding pond and garden. The final stop is the Kyoto Imperial Palace, the former residence of the Emperor until roughly 150 years ago. Visitors spend around 40 minutes at the palace. When the Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to visitors, the tour goes to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, where guests can see the main hall designated as a national treasure. If the closure falls on the 25th of the month, the tour visits Nishi Hongan-ji Temple instead. Admission fees and transportation between these locations are included in the tour price. Food, drinks, and hotel pick-up or drop-off are not included. The order of visits may change depending on traffic and conditions. The tour ends in front of Kyoto Avanti near Kyoto Station; return transportation to Osaka is not included for those who started there.
