Overview

This guided kayak tour lasts about 90 minutes and takes place within the La Jolla Ecological Reserve, an area known for its dense marine life along the West Coast. A professional guide leads the tour, helping participants navigate safely through this protected habitat. The reserve is home to seals, sea lions, various birds, and fish. Occasionally, dolphins or whales can be seen. The tour approaches the southern part of the reserve where seven sea caves are located. Weather permitting, the group may paddle through the largest cave, which extends from the ocean into Emerald Cove. Access to this cave depends on safety conditions and is not guaranteed. The tour uses double kayaks designed for two people, suitable for guests aged five and older. All necessary equipment for kayaking is provided.

Guests will participate in a 90-minute, fully-guided tour of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and the famous Seven Sea Caves. Our tour guides will lead you through the reserve and give you insider knowledge of the area, including local history, marine life, and conservation efforts. All guests must arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in. Our staff will get each guest ready inside our shop. Once outfitted properly, guests will walk down to the beach, in which our staff will provide an overview of what they will be doing along with best practices / tutorial and a safety briefing for the experience. This activity is suitable for ages 5 and up and does not require any prior experience.
